Weekend Style

Well, after a beautiful 50-degree Friday...we got more cold snowy weather for the weekend.

Saturday I wore this to my good friend's housewarming party. I'm so excited to watch my friends making this big steps in life. I can't wait for my first house!

Navy Tank: Gap here for $24.95
White Cardigan: Express    Similar to this for $29.95
Coral Necklace: Unknown     Similar to this for $12.99
Jeans: Express here for $79.90
Boots: Spool72    Similar to this for $49.94

I got inspired on Pinterest and made a housewarming "cake"

It was so easy to make, and it was a huge hit. It honestly took me just as long to buy everything as it did to put it all together. The giant fly swatter was the only not practical gift, but it was so funny and cute that I just couldn't resist! I went to the Dollar Tree, so everything (including the ribbon) only cost me $18! The utensils are betty crocker and the soap, dryer sheets, air freshener, etc. are all name brand. I wasn't sure how to transport it then found a pizza pan in the pots and pans section at the Dollar Tree and thought it was great because it works as the tray and is an item they can use!

Base layer: 5 rolls of toilet paper, tied together with ribbon with dish soap, air freshener, a slotted turner and microfiber towels tucked in.
Middle layer: 3 rolls of toilet paper, tied together with ribbon with dryer sheets, bottle opener, sponges, spatula and salad tongs tucked in.
Top layer: 1 roll of toilet paper, tied with ribbon. I stuck the handle of the fly swatter behind the top roll and in between the rolls on the bottom layer, which held it upright. Then I put the oven mitt in front of the fly swatter and pushed the top roll against it to hold it up.

Today I wore this outfit to work. I wore the same boots and jeans because they are so perfect for this cold weather! I took advantage of the mirrors at work for today's photo. I wish I had a big floor length mirror, I'll have to start looking at thrift stores/antique shops!

White Cami: Express here for $19.95
Jeans: Express here for $79.90

Neon Pink Skinny Belt: Express     Similar to this for $5.80
Neon Pink Earrings: Express     Similar to this for $5.80

I love my earrings and belt match. It's a fun way to add a pop of color without looking to springy/summery. Obviously this weekend's attire shows you how much I love mixing navy/coral. Also, I love my boots. They are water proof at the bottom so I can wear them in the snow and slush without worry and they are super warm!

Happy weekend!

Unusually warm winter day

Today was a 50 degree day in our freaky 20 degree/50 degree flip flop weather schedule. My outfit clearly shows how ready I am for spring!

Blue Rings: Express     Here for $26.90
"Love" Ring: Express 3-ring set     Here for $19.90

I love spring weather! I'm excited to introduce bright colors back into my wardrobe. Today was my last day at my internship before I start my new "big girl" job on Monday!

My pinkie ring is actually part of a set of "midi rings" from Express. I couldn't get used to the feeling of a ring halfway down my finger,  but luckily the whole set fits perfectly on my pinkies.

I'm also wearing my favorite nail polish, Tickle My France-y by OPI. It's a great neutral pink that is fun yet professional and classy. I got it originally in one of those mini-bottle sets then decided I had to have a full bottle. I went a few places before finding it at Ulta for $9.00.

Happy Friday!

Work day

It's been an interesting few days here in Colorado. Alternating days of 20 degree and 50 degree weather. Typical Colorado weather...but my poor wardrobe doesn't know what to make of it. The weather was cold today so I decided to keep it casual and cozy! My tribal print cardigan is definitely a statement piece (thanks Mom!).

My boots were an awesome clearance find from probably 3-4 years ago. Originally close to $100, I found them for $19.99!

Sorry for the bathroom pictures! I didn't have anyone to help with photos today!

Fall Fashion

This a bit of a throwback because today is a lazy gym day. Fall and Spring are my favorite fashion times. In Colorado the weather is warm enough to allow for dresses and skirts, cool enough to allow for layering, but not so cold that you need a coat. This photo is very reminiscent of my fall style.

White Button Up: Express.     Similar to this for $49.90
Grey Sweater: American Eagle.     Similar to  this for $24.75
Black Jean Leggings: Express.     Similar to this for $79.90
Black Skinny Belt: Express.     Similar to this for $3.80
Necklace: Express.    Similar to this for $6.80

As my intro article explained, I wear a lot of Express. A lot of these articles of clothing I have owned for over a year so the exact items are no longer available so I have substituted similar (and sometimes cheaper!) options.

New Blogger Alert

After months of toying with the idea I've decided to *finally* start my own blog.

About Me:

I'm an avid Pinterest user and a lover of all things fashion, food and wine. I also have celiac disease and love to cook gluten free. As a born-and-raised Colorado girl, I love the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, gardening, etc. I graduated this past December with a double major in Journalism and History, but I work in project management.

Things I will be sharing include: The big question was what to post about. I've never been super decisive, and as such have decided not to specialize this blog, so this list is not inclusive but will hopefully give you an idea of what to expect.

  • Fashion
  • Food
  • Crafts
I love clothing and putting together fun outfits. I constantly get asked where my clothes are from and this seems like a fun way to share that love! Disclaimer: A LOT of my clothes are from Express because I work at Express. But, I work at Express because I love Express!

Pinterest has totally transformed my kitchen persona. I have found so many amazing recipes there and love to share what has worked and what hasn't. Also, as a gluten free girl I modify a lot of recipes to be gluten free (with varying degrees of success). GF cooking can be tricky so I love sharing recipes that have panned out!

Pinterest has also renewed my love of crafting. I don't craft nearly as much as I'd like, because I don't have my own place yet. I'm excited to eventually get my own house and DIY the heck out of it!

Finally, I'm super excited to join the blogging world. I've found a number of great blogs that I enjoy following and hope that this will be an activity I can really engage in.
